What are Resources?

A resource is individually a descriptor of a reagent, data, or information. Key features of resources include:

  1. Collections can be shared with Communities via Subscriptions
  2. Access control of Resources are determined by the Community-to-Collection Subscription, and what permissions are assigned to the Subscription
  3. Collections can hold more than one type of Resource, but need not
  4. A Resource can be shared (by Contribution) to more than one Collection, in order to make it available to other Communities
  5. Collections can be featured

What types of Resources exist?

Currently, two Resource types exist:

  1. Vector Resource - provides metadata annotation for molecular biology vectors, with an emphasis on plasmid vectors
  2. Protocol Resource - provides metadata annotation for scientific protocols and the ability to include file documents
